This past Saturday LittleOne and I went to our first fashion show together. We sat at one of the front tables and I must say it was an event she won’t forget.
Pizza, salad, strawberry shortcake and pink lemonade was served for lunch to all while we watched girls confidently walk the runway in the fashions of girls throughout history on up to today.
The girls modeled day wear, sleep wear, special occasion and active wear of all sorts from their designated American Girl Doll’s era and they even brought in Jesse, a live pony as a treat.
We learned about what girls wore and did during their time, a fun slumber party dance – think Saturday Night Fever and even some plie lessons were given.
Before, during intermission and after the show we had the opportunity to check out some more American Girl dolls and accessories, get pampered, get our faces painted, do crafts, dress up asdentists, hang out with Jesse the pony, enter door prizes and bid on items auctioned to help support the local Winston-Salem Children’s Museum.
The show was then ended in song, dance, and the American girl finale song – I like your style.
From the moment we left the venue (Embassy Suites in Winston-Salem) LittleOne was already planning to attend the next show.
As a mom with daughters I thought this was a great mom & and LittleOne outing (most girls who attended and modeled ranged from 4-10 years old) but like many live shows and events focused around toys, be prepared to spend some money.

More than 100 local girls will walk the runway in American Girl fashions, while lively commentary, and music create a truly-memorable experience for girls and their families. Runway looks include historical clothing, from daywear to sleepwear and special-occasion clothing that resembles what the popular American Girl characters Kaya, Caroline, Josephina, Marie-Grace and Cecile, Addy, Rebecca, Kit, and Julie might have worn. Contemporary, Girl of the Year and My American Girl outfits for girls, ages 8 and up, and sweet Bitty Baby fashions, for little girls, complete the program.
